Gamma Ray Burst GRB080603b optical afterglow

Unusually, this optical afterglow persisted for some hours after the Gamma Ray Burst. I was alerted to this as it might have been bright enough for a spectrum. It proved too faint for that but was just detectable in an image about 5hrs after the original burst, despite the bright skies here at this time of year, at a reported Rmag 18.2. The redshift was subsequently reported as 2.69 (11.2 billion years look back time). See here for more information
