ASTRO ENGINEERING LOW PROFILE WEBCAM ADAPTER AC624

(compared with my current adapter of unknown make)

The Astro Engineering AC624 adapter (left) has a shorter 1.25 inch diameter section and does not have a flange at the back of this section. It also fits closer to the Toucam body.

The net effect is that the Toucam CCD chip can be moved in closer to reduce the focusser to CCD distance (In this example is 11mm compared with 19mm for the standard adapter). Note although the absence of the flange allows the camera to be mounted closer, this may cause a problem in certain circumstances as the exact position of the camera may not be as repeatable.

Any focal reducer screwed into the nosepiece is also closer to the CCD (In this example 29mm for the AC624 compared with 39mm for the standard adapter) This lessens the reduction but requires less inward focal travel.

The AC624 is made of a hard plastic material, has stepped light baffles and is threaded for filters
